USS Currier 2011 Reunion Dates

Mark your calendars, the date has been set!  The USS Currier reunion will be September 20th, 21st and 22nd; departing on the 23rd.  The location will be Birch Run, Michigan.

Two places of interest are www.defoenet.com/shipbuild/defoe_historyo/.htm the shipbuilder that built the Currier.  It is not operating now, but it would be possible to drive to the location to see where it all started, that is approximately 35-40 miles from where we will be staying.

The other place of interest iswww.frankenmuth.org Frankenmuth is Michigans Little Bavaria.  It is a special place to visit.  The reunion itself will be held in Birch Run, which is located just off I-75.

More details to follow, hope you can make it!

News from Rusty Nichols

New WWII Veterans Video

I'm sending this to everyone that I know. I only ask that
you consider sending it on to your mailing list.  It’s pretty
powerful, and will be emotional.
Please watch this two-minute video about a documentary that's coming
in Novernber.

They are looking to get 50,000 hits by Memorial Day.

Robert Voltmann

Dear Ms. Cohen:

Please inform the membership of my father, Robert Voltmann (Lt.JG) passing on 3/20/2009. He was able to attend the reunion in NY several years ago and greatly enjoyed it. Not too many vets from WWII now.

Thank you,
Renee Voltmann

From Ed Altizer

Sue......

Thank you for the pictures of the Currier reunion.  They weren't labled so I wasn't able to recognize the
faces.  It seems that we haven't gotten older.  (Hmmmm).  Can you put names to the figures in the
pictures?

Thank you.

From Bob Estes

Glad to hear that the gathering went well.  Net and myself are already planning for next year for sure.  We are certain that things will look much better by that time next year.
